Athena Family Services

Our mentoring program follows a hybrid theoretical model, combining a developmental and instrumental approach to community-based mentoring. This model focuses on developing rapport and building closeness between mentor and mentee by setting goals and working collaboratively to accomplish them. Our mentoring program focuses on educating clients to face important life decisions and equip them with tools, including but not limited to – effective social skills, personal responsibilities, educational goals and potential career paths, self-regulation of emotions, impulse control, substance use (if applicable), and development of personal self-care routines for improved well-being. The goal of our mentoring program is to provide our clients with a mentor who understands their unique issues, is an advocate for the client, and validates their feelings while equipping them with the necessary skills and tools to be successful in whatever the client’s personal goals are, whatever they may be.
