- Description: <p>Yarberry Consulting is staffed by an individual BCBA, rather than a typical three tiered staffing model, and direct services are best described as a coaching model in their service delivery type. There are no staff (e.g. behavior technicians) providing services directly to the learner while primary care providers do other things in a behavior coaching service model. Rather, the BCBA provides the direct services in tandem with the family (or other service staff, as appropriate) using the Behavioral Skills Training model to shape behavior of these primary support individuals in the natural environment. This model is delivered with the understanding that the people who are in the environment with the unique learner the most are the primary agents of behavior change through functional behavior intervention. The coaching model for behavior services may lead to longer lasting results, as natural supports are trained in behavior techniques and are thus better able to utilize them more of the time. The BCBA may take more of a lead role in analyzing data, providing data sheets, and creating materials to support the intervention program and maintenance of behavior change, as necessary. Initial intake and plan development also occur with the BCBA taking a lead and the family or support organization providing guidance and information to complete assessment of current behavior skills and needs. After assessment and behavior support plan development, the BCBA supports the family or staff in learning the skills to implement the plan themselves. First, the BCBA teaches the individualized behavior skill acquisition and reduction strategies to those who spend the most time in the client's environment. Next, the BCBA models evidence-based interventions for the client's circle of support. The BCBA then observes as the primary care provider, staff, and/or family unit rehearses the skill, and provides feedback to ensure the interventions are being done accurately. Maintenance support toward generalizing the skills is provided to the learner’s support team before the BCBA is ideally able to fade direct services, as data indicates. Services: Direct ABA Therapy - Individual or Group Adaptive Skills Training A BCBA delivers individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions directly to the client. These sessions are based on goals outlined in a treatment plan and may focus on adaptive skill acquisition and behavior reduction. Services may include discrete trial teaching, natural environment teaching, and other evidence-based behavioral strategies. Tara Yarberry is a Certified Trainer, of PEERS (TM), an evidence-based social skills instruction for individuals with Autism and other disabilities. Supervision of RBTs, BCaBAs, and BCBAs in Training Supervision involves the BCBA providing oversight, guidance, and performance feedback to behavior technicians, assistant behavior analysts (BCaBAs), and individuals pursuing BCBA certification. This supervision ensures the fidelity of treatment implementation, ethical conduct, skill development, and compliance with BACB® standards and requirements. Caregiver Training BCBAs provide training and coaching to parents, guardians, or caregivers on how to implement behavioral strategies and support in the home and community. The goal is to empower caregivers to respond intentionally to challenging behaviors and teach new skills, ensuring consistency and generalization of learning across settings. Consultation Consultation includes professional collaboration with school teams, agencies, or families to provide recommendations, review treatment plans, interpret data, and support the implementation of behavior interventions. This service may include data analysis, participation in IEP or team meetings, program planning, or systems-level guidance. Behavioral Assessment A comprehensive process conducted by the BCBA to identify the function of challenging behaviors and the environmental variables influencing them. This may involve direct observation, interviews, report writing (data review, summarizing the assessment and providing recommendations). Formal assessment tools such as Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) guide the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to detail the individual’s needs and goals. Professional Development and Group Training refers to BCBA-led educational sessions for staff/personnel, caregivers, or families. Topics may include training in adaptive skills, behavior management, data collection, and ethical implementation tailored to the needs of the group, setting, and individuals supported. Travel and Mileage Services provided outside a 5-mile radius of Alturas, CA, are subject to a mileage charge based on 100% of the current IRS mileage reimbursement rate. No mileage charges apply for telehealth or services within a 5-mile radius.</p>
